About the books:

As you may know, our daughter Natalie had a liver transplant in February 2005. In addition to the typical rejection episodes that many transplant patients face, Natalie has faced one obstacle after another.  In June of 2005 she was diagnosed with PTLD, which is essentially a cancer of the lymph system brought about by a virus called EBV interacting with her immunosuppressive drugs. 

She then developed hemolytic anemia, a condition where her body saw its own red blood cells as a foreign object and attacked them. Most recently she was diagnosed with a blocked portal vein. 

At this time we have three options.  See if a shunt will work, wait it out, or retransplant.

All of this has cost our family, emotionally as well as financially.  And it is because of this that we created a cookbook, Nataliebear’s Nummies ~ Serving up cups of Courage to help defray some of the costs and to rebuild Natalie’s liver transplant fund.
