Where is sock monkey?

I have never ever ever written a post, in all my years of blogging, about either a sock monkey or a game or a sock monkey game. But now, I must.

We played it last night. We meaning Natalie, neighbor Kylie, neighbor Alyssa, and me. The game says ages 3 and up, but that didn’t stop us. I mean, it had a sock monkey in it!

How does it work? It really is a game of hide and seek with the little sock monkey. One person “the hider” hides the monkey. Then each of the other players picks clue questions off the game board to ask the "hider of the monkey" where the monkey is.

All the questions are “yes” or “no” questions, like "is he in a room with a desk?" Then the "hider" answers yes or no and the card is placed in either the "yes" or "No" section on the game board. Those finding the monkey can then look back at all the clues. If a player draws a "go look" card, that person goes to search for a monkey. It came with an hourglass timer that we used during the search. When time ran out the girls loved to shout, “TIME’S UP!”

Now, it is important to note that there are rules for the fair hiding of the monkey. He has to be at least a little bit in plain sight and cannot be inside of something (like he can’t be completely in a dresser drawer, his tail must be sticking out). So it could be as easy or as challenging as you make it.

I LOVE this game.

I LOVED the hour we spent together playing it.

The giggling, the screaming, the cheering…and that was just from me.

Everyone is getting this game for Christmas.

PS – though I wish they would, neither Amazon, nor the makers of the Sock Monkey game, are paying me for this advertisement.

PPS – Natalie still needs a scope – see yesterday’s post.
