Hello! Jenn here. I just got off the phone with Becca. The internet is down there, so I'm posting for her.
Natalie is doing great! The surgeon didn't feel comfortable closing her completely on Friday, but did stretch her a bit to get her incision not so open. Her body is very happy with this and her liver numbers are staying great. Some were even normal - yippee!!!
They are starting to turn down the respirator a bit so she is doing even more breathing on her own. Becca said that her and Natalie even played with a balloon a bit, and that Natalie was trying to clap, but can't because they have her arms restrained so she won't pull her breathing tube out. They're going to start giving Natalie some formula through her NG tube (through her nose) rather than through her IV.
This is progress. Hopefully, if all continues well, on Tuesday they will take her back to surgery to try to close her completely. Keep the prayers coming! They've brought her this far. Let's get this kid up and going!
Becca is doing fine. She is taking time to rest to help her heal. I'm sure when the internet is back up she will post again.
