Natalie news – which is hopefully the reason that you are here, anyway…

  1. Clavicle bone = still broken
  2. Portal Vein = still blocked

  1. Natalie had x-rays yesterday. The bone is still broken after 5 weeks in a splint. The bones have moved closer together, and are starting to calcify, finally. Given her long stint on Prednisone, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that it’s “taking longer than normal,” but our normal has never been like anyone else’s anyway. We were always told that Prednisone can cause brittle bones and osteoporosis. Time will tell…
  2. Portal vein still blocked. Still can’t do an angioplasty. Still need to do a scope to determine what her risk of internal bleeding is. We are waiting on the scope after she heals – given her propensity to flail her arms whist under anesthesia. Recent labs indicate that we are OK to wait, for now.

PS – she still is listed for a second liver transplant (though she is inactive on the list) due to issue #2.
